Nightshift Planning Manager

Shift Pattern: Monday - Friday 08:00 - 18:00 
Salary: up to 35000 
Reporting to: General Manager - High Volume Fleet 


What's the role? 

To proactively lead and manage the regional planning team, delivering a transport plan that effectively deploys the company's transport assets. This plan should deliver compliance with relevant legislation and company procedures, meet customer requirements and generate profit for the business. 

To build and manage a planning organisation capable of delivering today's business and meeting the aspirations of the company and the individual into the future. 

What will I be responsible for? 
- Deliver a programme of continuous improvement in the transport plan by: 
- Regularly reviewing internal and external KPI data 
- Using trend analysis and loss elimination data 
- Developing mid-term and seasonal scenarios / resource plans 
- Monitoring daily performance data 
- Ensuring organisation capability is maintained for today and into the future 
- Maintain customer service levels by: 
- Monitoring key customers daily and weekly making the necessary interventions that deliver key KPIs 
- Liaising with customer service contacts internal and external to keep abreast of and manage issues 
- Provide key data to business development function that facilitates growth/business acquisition 
- Provide leadership guidance and management to the planning teams by: 
- Ensuring work processes, that cover the regional needs of the planning teams, are in place and being adhered to 
- Maintain overall capability through planning / recruitment and on boarding 
- Deliver improved organisation capability through the appraisal system and 1 to 1 processes 
- Maintain control over discipline and grievances 
- Maintain control of staffing costs with close focus on manning levels and overtime 
- Ensure team compliance with statutory and legal requirements 

What kind of person are you looking for? 

Due to the nature of the role we are looking for dependable and committed individuals. The successful candidate will have at least three years' experience within a planning management environment within the haulage industry. You will be able to demonstrate a proven track record in managing managers and teams and driving a department forward in terms of efficiency and performance. 
You should be an expert in key compliance areas Working Time Directive & EU Drivers' Hours, experience of planning systems/software and excellent geographical knowledge is essential. 

You should be flexible in regards to working away from home at times. You should have the ability to work on your own initiative and the willingness to resolve issues. You must be able to organise your own workload and work in a pressurised environment and meet deadlines. You should have confident and effective communication ability. 

The applicant should also be PC literate with a good knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
