Trainee Pre-Production Planning EngineerEngineering

iRecruit are looking for someone looking for a fresh start within a Rotherham based Engineering client. This is a full time, permanent position.

 

Main Job Purpose

            To assist with the development and integration of new production lines and technologies from product concept through to end of product life within agreed time scales, costs and lead times, whilst meeting all Company, Department and Environmental objectives. 

 

Principal Accountabilities

The following is a list of accountabilities for a pre-production engineer. A trainee should ensure that they gain experience in all of these activities but that ultimate responsibility will rest with the Production Planning Team Leader.

1. Ensure product design is thoroughly reviewed, with regard to manufacturing feasibility, cost efficiency and quality.

2. To ensure adherence to key project dates and agreed departmental timing plans.

3. To accurately provide management information in a report format on time as requested.

4. To accurately track project spend against agreed targets with respect to jigs and fixtures, test equipment and capital investment.

5. Ensure equipment specifications are clearly defined and adhered to by suppliers whilst driving reduction in waste and environmental impacts.

6. Ensure both product and single part packaging specifications are clearly defined and adhered to by suppliers whilst driving reduction in waste and environmental impacts.

7. Ensure all appropriate in process controls are specified in a cost justified manner and implemented in production facilities to eliminate operator error and engineer out process problems.

8. Support the APQP function with Quality Planning documentation (PLR document) and ensure production lines are released to production in a robust manner.

9. Ensure production lines are correctly specified and set-up to deliver a combination of quality level, performance and uptime to achieve the company target of 85% OEE.

10. To support production departments as required.

11. To ensure all 8D and Problem Report activities are completed within specified time scales.

12. To assist in the co-ordination of all departments with respect to individual projects.

13. To ensure full commitment and support for training, communications, health and safety (including IMS), housekeeping and personal discipline.

14. To assist in the compilation of status calculations as and when required.

15. To suggest improvements to process to improve production facilities, including the implementation of new technologies.

 

Preferred Education & Experience

  • Formal Engineering qualification at minimum HND level or equivalent (essential)
  • Ability to demonstrate a willingness to learn the skills of  team-working, communication, planning, problem solving, project management, negotiation and commercial awareness. (essential)
  • Working knowledge of personal computers (essential)
