In what is a key role for the business you will be responsible for managing the Building Products transport division - including developing strategies, driving quality, service and cost optimisation of the commercial fleet.

Duties in this role will include: 
" Drive and facilitate corporate strategies, policies and guidelines for Transport. 
" Plan, contract manage 3rd party logistics provider relationships. 
" Optimise transportation between UK Distribution centres and customers. 
" Produce and monitor budget adherence to circa 8.5m. 
" Control sets of KPI and establish required action plans for transport objectives. 
" Evaluate and review Building Products transport operations' practices, update and develop process documentation, streamline opportunities, and eliminate non-value added activities. 
" Drive the development and cultivation of your team. 
" Hold performance reviews in order to identify service improvement opportunities and to manage costs. 
" Drive and facilitate activities that improve coordination and communication within the transport department and other affected departments throughout the division. 
" Oversee and ensure all transport related operations comply with applicable legislation, environmental, health, safety, and other regulatory rules and regulations.

The successful applicant will have a proven track record working within a fast paced national manufacturing/distribution environment, enjoy working across multiple locations and demonstrate a track record of establishing and maintaining compliant transport services. 
This role reports directly to the Group Transport Manager and you will be given autonomy and backing from the business to deliver the transport strategy and ensure the continued success of this important business function.

Requirements

" Certificate of Professional Competence Qualified. 
" Comfortable leading and developing the transport team/function. 
" Strong track record working within Logistics and Transport operations. 
" Background of providing transport services across a number of geographic regions. 
" Prepared to travel both within the UK and Abroad as the role dictates.
