Main purpose of a Quality Engineer - Welding

As quality engineer – welding you will work independently to develop and manage all of the quality requirements, including but not limited to those called for in the SL Requirements with regards to welding in the Nuclear Industry. To support the ISA operational teams in achieving delivery of both the lifetime plan and the ISA strategic objectives. To be achieved by developing the project quality ‘programme’ and by providing quality oversight, assurance, inspection and training to the ISA operating units, their support functions, and throughout the supply chain.

Main responsibilities of a Quality Engineer – Welding

* Develop and monitor compliance against quality plans for site work
* Coordinate and trouble shoot welding issues as they may arise
* Work closely with Delivery, Supply chain management and project management to resolve issues and institute corrective action
* Strong working knowledge of welding applications in the Nuclear Power Industry
* Knowledge of welding procedure review, weld procedure qualification
* Review and cross referencing of welding documentation
* Preparing and contributing to NDT Procedures
* Preparing and contributing to NDE Procedures (Ultrasonic / MPI / DPI / RAD / PAINT
* Ability to determine the quality inspection requirements based on documentation
* Carry out inspections on / off site facilities
* Participate in closing out project quality issues
* Report performance to ISA quality lead as required with immediate escalation of any 

Technical experience, skills and attributes required of a Quality Engineer - Welding

* Qualification in Weld Engineering or Metallurgy or equivalent experience
* CSWIP 3.1 minimum – Welding Inspector (Current certification required)
* CSWIP 3.2 minimum – Welding Inspector (Current certification required)
* PCN Level 2 – NDT
* Minimum Baseline security cleared for SC for working in Analytical Services
* Monitored Worked trained within 6 months of receiving P4 pass
* Risk Perception trained within 6 months of receiving P4 pass
* Minimum 5 years + experience as a Welding Inspector / Senior Welding Inspector in a highly regulated industry, alliance or partnership
* Preferably Time Served
* Experience overseeing QA/QC Issues
* Good working knowledge of current welding standards and document management procedures
